Three screens video installation, 10’31, no sound, 2006.
Originally, a family member made photo slides in 1965 and they represent the last days of my great-grand mother. Each image was digitally altered, frame-by-frame to create 10-minute movie with the subtle motion of the object’s size surrounding person on the bed and brightening/darkening of colors of the same objects, to create in a way resemblance of breathing. The movement in the video is almost undetectable by the human eye and the work as such requires time commitment. Installation includes three-screen/monitor projection in a dark space with special scent. The scent is very important part of work; it’s the smell of “sljivovica”, a grappa from former Yugoslavia, which is often used as remedy and as a drink for all sorts of occasions from weddings to funerals.
